The billowing curtains of sound on the second full length album from virtuoso indie-folk band SHEL, is both familiar and far-out to fans of the sister quartet. The classically inspired mandolin, violin and piano are there, along with the band’s glowing vocal harmonies. But also heard are dense, ethereal textures that hover between the digital and the analog. Grooves are deep with electronic ambience and beat-boxing. The overall effect sheds light on their broad collection of influences, from the rock bands of the 60s to the contemplative composers of the 18th Century and even the waves of modern electronica.

Founded in 2008, Mariachi Flor de Toloache is lead by singers Mireya I. Ramos (founder) & Shae Fiol (founding member). Reminiscent of the early days of mariachi the group started as a trio, Harp, Violin and Vihuela. Today, Mariachi Flor De Toloache performs as a full Mariachi ensemble. The members hail from diverse cultural backgrounds such as Mexico, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Australia, Colombia, Germany, Italy and the United States. This defines their unique flavor and sound. The result of this cultural bouquet is an edgy, versatile and fresh take on traditional Mexican music. "The Nordic Fiddlers Bloc is a fiddle trio from Norway, Sweden and the Shetland Islands who swiftly gained a reputation for their gripping and unique blend of fiddle music since their inception in early 2009. Comprising Olav Luksengård Mjelva (Norway), Anders Hall (Sweden) and Kevin Henderson (Shetland Islands), each regarded as leading exponents of their respective traditions, they have found themselves in great demand throughout the world performing together as 'The Nordic Fiddlers Bloc'. With a firm focus on the rich traditional fiddle music from where they each belong, they have developed a sound that has been described as ""unique"", ""meaningful"", ""intense"" and ""invigorating"". Their clever use of harmony, rhythm, riffs and bass lines creates a sound that leaves the listener enthralled but at the same time dumbfounded that the sound only comes from three fiddles."

Born out of the post-punk UK rock scene, the Furs quickly developed as one of the premiere bands on US College and Modern Rock radio scoring a multitude of #1 singles. With the advent of MTV in the early 80’s the band took off into the stratosphere, and when John Hughes’ approached the band with his film built around the Furs’ song “Pretty In Pink”, the band’s legacy was cemented.
